Our amazing Vintage Queen number 76 loves the head-to-toe look – hats, gloves, bags and all – that used to be the everyday style for most women until the early Sixties. We think her own outfits play tribute to the art of formal dressing beautifully!

My name is Emily, I’m 22 years old, and call the Midwest, USA, my home.  I just graduated from college with a Bachelors in Film Aesthetics and History, a degree that fits both my interests and lifestyle.

Ever since I can remember, I have be into old things.  This may have been the byproduct of having an older grandmother than most of my peers, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

My grandma was born in 1920 and was fortunate enough to live through some of the most glamourous decades of the 20th century.  And, while she didn’t save much of her clothing, she did save many pictures that continue to be some of my greatest inspiration for my daily looks.

Growing up around old things at grandma’s lead me to classic film.  My earliest memory of movie watching is requesting to watch The Wizard of Oz over and over again.  I eventually broaden my horizons and by the time I was ready for college, I knew what I wanted to study.

Like my old family photos, classic film of the Golden Era of Hollywood is a constant inspiration for me.  I love how ladies of the Thirties to Fifties had complete outfits, with matching hats, gloves, and handbags – something I strive to achieve in my own life.

One of my absolute favorite Hollywood starlets is Linda Darnell.  I feel both on and off the screen, Darnell really represented the typical Forties female and she continues to influence my clothing choices.

I began collecting vintage in my preteen years and began wearing it after high school.  Now, I try to incorporate something vintage everyday into my outfits; mixing and matching decades to try and create some kind of an almost authentic look.

My favorite decade is definitely the Forties, but I will wear anything from the Thirties through to the early Sixties.

I just recently acquired my first ever Swirl dress and I am smitten!  I find these dresses to be extremely flattering, not to mention very comfortable without sacrificing style. My favorite vintage accessory would have to be red nail polish.  I hardly ever go without.  It really completes my look and gives it an authentic feel.

I love the nostalgia element vintage brings to this fast-paced world.  While I don’t know if I would want to give up some of the excellent advancements our 21st century world has, I do know I long for days gone by, where ladies dressed up to go grocery shopping and wore hats to luncheons and church.  I love that by wearing vintage, I am helping to preserve the past while creating my own future.
