Vintage Queen no 81: Annie from the UK “I’m Annie from Annie Pancake and the Time Machine, a 17-year-old from the West Midlands who is currently slaving over my A Levels. I’m an amateur graphic designer (read: I play about with my sketches on Photoshop), an amateur blogger and a wanna-be beauty guru. I like to blog about fashion and beauty as it is for me – as a teenager I don’t have the same budget as a working adult, and I love that fellow teenagers can relate to my blog. I fell in love with vintage just over two years ago. It began with the music and then the hair and then the clothes and the lifestyle. I will have to be predictable and say one of the reasons I love vintage is because it all has a ‘story’. I also have a penchant for well-made clothing, so vintage, reproduction and designer clothes satisfy that craving – I think I was supposed to be born a princess! I have always dressed ‘individually’ and just enjoy the endless combinations of outfits: choosing what to wear every morning, vintage just appealed hugely to me. I love so many eras, I could crow with delight over 1900s fashion and have a deep passion for beautiful Twenties-everything, but most things from those eras are far out of my price range and don’t suit my figure (or my courage!) so I love the Forties, Fifties and Sixties as well. I try to keep my look somewhat period correct but often mix those three eras and mix in modern or reproduction items as well. I would love to visit Brick Lane in London more often and I have a burning desire to go and wander the streets of Saint Ouen, Paris, but until then, I buy most of my vintage from eBay and Etsy. My favourite repro stores are Tara Starlet, Heyday and Puttin’ On The Ritz and if I buy from the highstreet it is usually Topshop or Forever 21.” 3 Responses Tess January 30th, 2012 This is so lovely!
