Vintage Queen No 71, you could be in Mad Men

| May 10, 2010 | 3 Comments

Our fabulous Vintage Queen number 71 could easily have just walked off the set of Mad Men. Her mid-century, late Fifties, early Sixties style gives us the craving for little black dresses, cat-eye glasses, full-circle skirts and kidney tables.

I am a painter, a thrifter, and a blogger trying to play out my dream of recreating the idea of the Fifties housewife. I find the styles of the late Fifties and early Sixties fit my body  and personality best, but I love to incorporate things from other eras into my outfits as well.

I started becoming interested in vintage fashion and lifestyles as a young girl, when I read books written around and about the turn of the 20th century.

I would daydream about living in a huge Victorian house with gigantic hair bows and lovely frocks. I use images from around this time period as inspiration in my art.

She’s lovely! I like the top last picture best. :)

on page 2, she kind of looks like anne hathaway – beautiful!

This woman is very beautiful and has a model’s “versatility” so far as her face, from different angles, looks quite different. In the shot of her with firey-red lipstick, taken from the side, her mouth/cheeks look just like Judy Garland and Liza Minelli (and my mom, for that matter).

The retro looks she’s donned for these photos, particularly the first shot with the great bob in her hair and the superb props (furniture) is dramatic and very well done!
