This week’s Vintage Queen has caught our eye because of her unique way of mixing vintage. Whether she’s wearing a sailor dress, full skirt or little flowery number, this queen is always decidedly grungy and edgy cool.

My name is Diane and I run the style blog, Darling Darling.  I live in Northern California where I am a full-time Library Science student, part-time Etsy vintage seller, and part-time used bookseller.

I really got into vintage about five or six years ago when I started going to thrift shops.  I was fresh out of high school, heavily into Weezer and Rilo Kiley, and had heard that Rivers Cuomo and Jenny Lewis were avid thrift shoppers.  It’s a rather silly reason to begin going to thrift shops but there it is.

Ridiculously youthful reason aside, I was absolutely hooked from the first visit.  Thrift shopping has acted as the gateway drug to vintage shopping for me.  It was when I first started to actually develop my own taste in clothing; before that, my outfits were just oversized T-shirts and baggy jeans.

I slowly began to gravitate towards vintage clothing after a while because the styles and cuts of particular pieces just seemed so much more interesting, unique, and detailed than most modern pieces.  Also, it’s just the obvious appeal of wearing clothes of yesteryear that make wearing and shopping for vintage such an attractive habit.
