Meet fabulous Vintage Queen no 149 – the amazing Ava from the UK. In love with all things Forties, she has an amazing collection of period clothes.

“My name is Ava AviaciĆ³n, I’m 24 years old and live in the Midlands, England. I’m a model, writer and historian with a particular interest in the Second World War.

I’m attracted to the style, ethos and value of the Forties and try to live a Forties life as much as possible- taking great inspiration from the every-day woman of the Second World War era. I find their stories as inspiring as their style.

Clothing-wise I aim for feminine, classic and modest, and everything from my nightwear and lingerie to my coats and shoes are either vintage or vintage inspired. My current favourites are hats and knitted cardigans or jumpers, I love discovering new ‘Made in Britain’ millinery online, or authentic vintage in a charity shop.

For a date I might wear a late Forties dress, in more of a New Look style with nipped-in waist and flowing skirt, with heeled court shoes and matching gloves. When I’m going for tea with my family, it’s more likely to be a silk blouse and high-waisted skirt, with lace-up heels and a nice knitted cardigan to keep me warm.

I style my hair by authentic means whenever possible, although it’s much longer than a stereotypical Forties cut so wet sets take a very long time to dry. My hairdresser cuts a long femme fatale style for me, with a lovely rounded finish at the ends. This goes a long way to helping me achieve the bounce and curl I’m looking for.”

I don’t know if this goes to the website or to vintage queen 149, but I was just wondering how you came to own that brown jacket in the train picture, the one with the little round buttons with a yellow fleck and the pocket on the shoulder that goes no where. I’m fairly certain that was my jacket that I lost a while back. I have the matching skirt. I loved it and was just wondering what happened to it!
