Vintage clothes shopping in Adelaide

Exclusive Vintage – 35 Braund Road Prospect

Exclusive is located in Prospect, a suburb about 10 to 15 minutes from
the city itself. As well as offering an extensive range of women’s clothing, Exclusive has a little something for the fellas, too.

Everything is in good – if not excellent condition – and is cleaned thoroughly by the shop-owner before being put out on the racks so you can feel comfortable in wearing something as soon as you buy it.

Push Pin – 8 Compton Street, Adelaide

Located right near Adelaide’s Central Markets, Push Pin is a quaint little shop, which has a lovely assortment of vintage women’s clothes – including a great selection of dresses – all in great condition. The pieces are generally no older than the Fifties and date anywhere up to the Eighties. There is also a small selection of new jewellery by local designers.

Hype and Seek – 3 Elizabeth Street, Croydon

About 15 minutes from the city, in Croydon, Hype and Seek offers vintage furniture and other homewares from the Sixties onward, as well
as a small selection of vintage and retro clothes. Elizabeth Street – its location – also has various other trendy hotspots such as cafes and one or two clothing stores, one of which has a nice selection of vintage (mainly Eighties) pieces on offer.

There’s a great one on Frome Rd too, but for TRUE vintage style in Adelaide head to Gilles Street Markets http://www.gillesstreetmarket.com.au/. Some seriously awesome stuff there, makes me feel like I’m in another world… sigh

Great locations but I happen to know you have missed one of the best – and more affordable -vintage funky fashion stores in Adelaide!

Nadia’s House of Serendipity is at Shop 2 of 4 Partridge St in the hub of Glenelg. It stocks all kinds of quirky, retro fashion, acessories and collectables with items dating back to 1930′s right up to modern day. The store also buys stock from general public.

    Most definately worth a peruse!

woah anne. u must have come at the wrong time of year. Come around feb march time and there are so many people in adelaide. No time to be bored. FRINGE TIME!!! WOOO.

Otherwise, yay thatnks for the vintage shops. Another good place is the vintage markets in the Estonian House in North Adelaide which is on every second and fourth sunday in the month. The next time it is on will be the 14th march 2010. Recommend it to anyone,

‘Rewind’ on Glenelg Jetty Road sells really good vintage stock, also has a large mens section.
