December 11, 2009 by Lena
Crikey, it’s only two weeks to go until Christmas! If you’re in need of a little help to get you into the spirit then here are some very festive vintage things to do and see in London, Worcester and Saltaire in the next seven days.
London
It’s a Jammin Christmas
Revive back to the Fifties this Saturday, 13 December, at vintage jumble sale Jumble, which has 15 stalls full of gifts that are waiting to be bought. There will be everything from vintage clothing to jewellery to illustrators to cake makers, antique collectors to prop hirers.
Come dressed in Fifties and have fun with the Christmas Tree Pinata, pick a mistletoe (and sneak a naughty snog) or throw a snowball to win some prizes. There will also be a £1 box full of vintage goodies and you can design your own Christmas card on the spot.
Sunday, 13 December 2009
Time: 12:00 – 18:00
Location: Liquid Nation 161-165 Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill, London, W10 6HJ

Christmas at Paper Dress
There is no escaping the fact that Christmas is well and truly on its way. Every supermarket except Netto is competing for the most celebrity filled advert, anyone that has ever sung in their life has a new ‘best of’ CD out, and large quantities of food and alcohol are suddenly justifiable. So to get into the spirit there will be a fun Christmas party at vintage shop Paper Dress on Wednesday, 16 December from 6-9pm.
There will be a 20% discount, mulled cider and a free £5 gift voucher to spend on the nightwhen you RSVP to paperdressboutique@yahoo.co.uk.
The buyers have also just come back from a really enjoyable buying trip up north, and returned with a bundle of cuddly furs and cardis, alongside some spectacular party dresses. They are selling fast so get down quick to bag your unique bargain and be the bell of the ball.

Rock a Hula: Christmas in Hawaii!
Celebrate Christmas tiki-style with a very festive Rock a Hula! This December the award winning Rock a Hula decks the palm trees with tinsel, gives Elvis a Santa hat and throws one hell of a Christmas party to finish off the year in style!
As an extra special Christmas treat Rock a Hula presents star hula Hooper Marawa The Amazing who will be taking a little break from performing in La Clique in the West End to wow the crowd with her incredible talents.
There will be no dodgy playlists at this Christmas party; playing live are skilled rock n roll blues boys Snakebone – think early Sixties blue note grooves with a pinch of T-Bone Walker’s jump blues – and commanding the decks are resident DJ El Nino – the force behind two of London’s longest running vintage and retro nights (Black Cotton and Lady Luck Club) – and special guest DJ Tim’s Jumpin’ Jive – the man who’s been in the biz for over 20 years!
Back by popular demand, the incredible Nina’s Hair Parlour – the UK’s first vintage hairdressers – will be setting up a makeover booth for the night and transforming ladies into beautiful pin-ups! Ladies should get there early to sign up as spaces get snapped up quickly.
As well as amazing live acts and DJ’s the door price includes beginners swing dance lesson, hula hooping, a surprise film screening in the cinema as well as bowling and karaoke available to book on the night.
Party goers should don their most glamorous Hawaiian attire for this festive special – think hit the beach for evening cocktails, Marilyn on holiday, vintage sailor or GI uniforms and sparkly sarongs.
