The Vintage Librarian recommends: A girls’ guide to decorating QueensOfVintage editor Lena has caught the decorating bug. With a clear idea of the new decor- black lacquered floors and plenty of vintage of course – but no DIY skills, she decided to reach for a book to get some extra tips and tricks. A Girl’s Guide to Decorating – Abigail Ahern £16.99, Quadrille Interior designer and stylist Abigail Ahern’s guide book to decorating is packed full of ideas and practical advice on how to turn any space – form tiny flat to town house – into a fab new pad without spending a fortune. As a DIY newbie and complete idiot when it comes to any type of tool, I found a lot of the ‘how to’ tips such as how to hang pictures with nails very useful. The book is packed full of pictures giving you plenty of inspiration, and almost all proposed designs involve vintage and have a distinct vintage feel to them. Even if you’re not after a radical change for your home decor, tips such as using piles of books or magazines as focal pieces or simply changing your lighting, should still help you change the mood of your home without much faffing about or spending serious money. It’s a book I’d recommend to anyone stuck for ideas and in need of home style inspiration.
