51vH0MAu7oLIf you are a fan of Twenties silent movies or if you perhaps adore Billy Wilder, then here’s the perfect way of exploring Berlin: take a film tour! Our Berlin correspondent Holly Fletcher recommends the Hollywood way of discovering the German capital.

There are a range of tours available, which will show you a completely different site to Berlin as you are taken around the city and visit the sites of the hottest movies filmed in Berlin including Valkyrie, the Tom Cruise film on WWII, Goodbye Lenin, A Foreign Affair with Marlene Dietrich, Matt Damon’s Bourne Supremacy, and internationally acclaimed German films The Lives of Others and Run Lola Run.

Film fans can choose from the Billy Wilder Tour (who knew he lived in Berlin as a young man?) showing you the places he used to hang out and which he would use as backdrops to his film scripts, while the Silent Movie Tour will take you back to the Roaring Twenties and such film classics as The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Metropolis.

Other tours include the Hollywood Tour showcasing the locations of US blockbusters, the American Tour – which is all about cold war conspiracies – and the the Original Tour which features the best locations in Berlin’s 100 years as a cinematic city.

A three hour tour will set you back 15 Euros
