Sydney vintage shopping guide

grandmaSydney has traditionally been known for its displays of tanned flesh on its many beautiful beaches, but the city isn’t short of vintage fashion lovers either. The last decade has seen an explosion in the number of boutiques dedicated to vintage. Louise Cornegé has listed some of the best.

Grandma Takes a Trip

Brit Nicola Sault has transplanted a little bit of London into Sydney’s cutting-edge inner city suburb of Surry Hills and famous beachside haunt of Bondi. Her huge collection of vintage and retro fashion, mainly sauced in her native UK, is colour coded to perfection in her two stores. Abounding with sexy cocktail dresses, fresh summer frocks, cute and colourful separates and saucy swimwear – all at very reasonable prices – Nicola’s selection has something that will appeal to every Sydney girl.

The store also has its own label, Handcrafted by Grandma, inspired by retro style and fashioned with vintage fabrics. Items have included high-waisted shorts, jumpsuits, party rocks and vibrant one-piece swimsuits.

Nice story but odd that no shops in Newtown/Enmore got a mention!
