Now that we are in the thick of winter it seems slightly mad to start thinking about the whimsical skirts and summery dresses we’ll be wearing next season. But the fashion world has spoken, and Spring/Summer 09 is done and dusted. To be ultra fashion forward, now’s the time to start incorporating next season’s trends. We’ve all the key trends here and not only show you the looks to wear right now, but also where to find from. Best of all, it’s all vintage!

Trend: asymmetric
It probably won’t be a surprise, but hey, the 80s are back! What has slowly started this year with leggins, DocMartens and plenty of tartan, is set to become an even bigger influence on all things 2009. Asymmetric cuts were big back in the days and they are making a huge comeback next year, Gucci, YSL and Lanvin have all done a version of the single shoulder look in their s/s 09 collections. Here are some vintage alternatives:

Chelsea Avant shoulder dress ca.£45

Trend: blazers
Blazers will be back with a vengeance, but forget exaggerated 80s power suits, this time they are mannish with cropped sleeves and small shoulder pads.

Givenchy Sunrise Blazer ca. £40

Trend: bows
Bows have been everywhere this last season and little will change next year. Wear them oversized and 80s style in your hair or clipped to T-shirts or as belt buckles.

Black Silk Hair Bow £5

Red Satin Bow Hair Clip £5

Trend: jumpsuits
Yes, this is not the easiest trend to wear. It’s best to stick to a flattering, waist emphasizing cut rather than tight lycra. Wear with a pair of killer heals to give it a 2009 feel as shown by Derek Lam and Proenza Schouler.

Oscar de la Renta Jumpsuit ca. £55

80s Black Sequin Playsuit £65
