Shellac Sister Jenny Hammerton writes: We had a super time at the festival.  We snared a table under canvas on the Saturday to shelter the gramophones from the drizzle and felt like superstars as so many people stopped to snap us on their box brownies.  We had so many lovely chats with lots of fabulous folk – some in full vintage, some not – it was a really glorious mixture of people and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

On Sunday we played a set on the High Street as our friend vintage knitter extraordinaire Susan Crawford taught a lesson in the fashion and craft area.  The sun shone down on us for a couple of hours and we had a great view of all the lovely outfits going past.  We marvelled at the amount of glamorous ladies who sported their best high heels – no wellies for them!

In the evenings Virginia spent a lot of time in the Torch Lounge (fabulous atmosphere and wonderful dancing) and Jane, Michelle and I hung out in the Let it Rock tent with the rockabillies.  I couldn’t stop watching a young guy dancing – he could only have been about 12 or 13 but he sure had the moves.

The weather didn’t stop us, Lady Jane and I were a bit chilly on Friday so we bought ourselves leopard print coats from the wonderful stallholders and she made me go on the big wheel.  I was very happy to hear Billy Fury playing every time we came back down to earth as the wheel revolved as I am seriously scared of heights.  It was great to see the festival site from the air – so many different dance tents and events spaces.

There were tonnes of things going and there wasn’t time to do everything we wanted to.  I didn’t get a chance to get my hair crimped, to watch the daredevil riders on the Wall of Death or catch my friend Jonny Trunk DJing.  Could we do it all again this weekend?!
