leadNothing beats a vintage dress with killer vintage shoes and accessories, but what do you do when you can’t find one you like or in your size? We have two words for you: reproduction vintage. Vanessa Sandovalwill be investigating the world of repro clothing for us. This time she’s looking at American label Stop Staring!

Reproduction vintage is vintage-inspired clothing that is brand spanking new. Dresses, tops, bottoms, coats, make-up, and shoes that look historically accurate but come in many modern sizes and can be found in plenty of stores. Los Angeles is the home of several reproduction vintage manufactures that have come to be very notable in the fashion world.

At the top of the reproduction vintage industry sits Stop Staring! clothing. Developed in 1997 by Alicia Estrada, Stop Staring! has been seen on many celebrity A-listers. S0me of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities such as Dita von Teese and Meg White of the White Stripes have been strutting their stuff in Alicia’s creations. “Making these retro inspired dresses has always been a passion of mine,” Alicia says. She began sewing at the age of 16 and her love of the silver screen urged her to design vintage inspired clothing.

“Everything inspires me,” says Alicia, “especially anything vintage, and film noir.” Some of her favorite starlets include Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, and Delores Del Rio. Her love for these screen sirens is obvious in the design of her dresses. “I love the Forties, and Fifties eras especially, the women were so full of glamour with a touch of sex appeal.”

i like this line but i wish they would use more authentic fabrics, when you touch these they feel cheap… synthetic fabrics, yuck.
