Reproduction vintage report: No. 9 Bridal Couture Set up in 2009 by bridalwear designer Linda Davey, No. 9 focuses on wedding gowns with a vintage feel. The company is based in Yorkshire where every single gown is made by hand, making nearly every dress a complete one-off. If brides don’t want to go couture, they can choose a dress based on one of the standard collections, which all feature intricate, vintage-inspired dresses. The Sirens collection – four dresses inspired by classic Hollywood actresses like Grace Kelly or Elizabeth Taylor – really captures the regal glamour of the Fifties while the Vintage collection offers some brilliant Fifties-inspired dresses, including a fab blue frock for those who don’t fancy white. Unlike a lot of other Fifties-inspired collections out there, No. 9’s doesn’t just consist of strapless full-circles gowns but also offers sleeves and sleeker pencil skirt details for a much more authentic feel of an era in which most brides would have still been fairly covered up.
