Planet Vintage Girl chats interiors

Do you have a favourite piece of furniture?

Laura: When we moved to England, we had to get rid of half of our belongings! It was very painful, but very theraputic! I’m a strong believer in “simple living,” which is about doing more and owning less. So the question is, “does this object serve me?” If so, how? If not, time to move it along. I’m feeling terribly affectionate for my 1930s American sofa at the moment. It has original champagne coloured upholstery with a lotus pattern, loads of fringe and down cushions. But my cat has ripped it to shreds and the springs are gone. But I can’t bring myself to buy a “new” one. So I’m waiting for the right vintage replacement to emerge in my life. I’d be happy if a blonde Ercol day bed came my way!

Hi Laura, thanks for doing this interview with us. It’s very informative and I just love your philosophy.

QueensOfVintage.com’s sister glossy is http://www.greenmystyle.com, which is a showcase for the most stylish ethical fashion, beauty and homewares. Together the two websites are very much about keeping beautiful items out of landfill and cared for for future generations.

I’m also a Manchester girl. I grew up there and return often to see friends and family. I’m no stranger to Failsworth Mill ;-) . It’s a treasure. Next time I’m there we must say hello!

    Thanks again, Sarah x
