5. The Lives of Others: a film by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. This international award winning film deals with the monitoring of culture in East Berlin by agents of the GDR’s secret police.
It is a masterpiece of emotion and the prop master was said to have been obsessed with making everything authentic. For a distinct East German fashion flare, look to actress Martina Gedeck who wears up-do’s and frosty blue eyeshadow with fierceness!
