New PictureSixties

The Mustang owned the Sixties. Promoted the “working man’s sports car,” it was amazingly popular and effectively brought an end to the Kustom car craze. After all, why build a radical looking car yourself, when you can buy one new?

Known as one of the first “muscle cars,” the mustang kick started a genre of vehicles, boasting high performance, good looks and an affordable price tag.

New PictureSo, there you have it. Drop some of these names into conversation and watch the stunned looks. And, if the boys still think cars are a man’s game, show them this: Veda Orr, who during the war, published a Hot Rod Pictorial book that was shipped to many a stranded soldier over seas.

And now, those books are literally priceless. But she did more than that, in 1937 Veda hit the salt lakes and broke a record in her street roadster to the tune of 114 mph. And she did it in style!
