Give your 70s maxi dress a winter make-over!

| January 22, 2009 | 3 Comments

When the hem is done and all beautiful, the last requirement is a belt. The dress’ polka dot pattern is very busy so I decided to wear it with a white 70s belt, wide enough to clinch in my waist. If you want to make your own belt there is a description of how to do so on an earlier revamp here.

When I styled the dress I kept it simple with the belt and a pair of little red heels. Ready to face the cold!

What a great project! I did this with one of my dresses last summer, except instead of cutting it off, I just hemmed it to knee length…this way I could let the hem down again when the weather got warm again. :-D

Cool! I have altered a few vintage finds in the past. I’ve also come across a great vintage online shop that has a revamped range( http://www.perkupvintage ) I recently bought a beautiful 50′s style shift dress from them that was origanlly a 70s maxi you’d never tell..I think it’s great to be creative with vintage!

  3. So simple yet so modern. Although, I wouldn’t do that with anything couture or high-end label, but your regular maxi dress…a perfect update! Thanks!
