Get São Paulo’s coolest reworked vintage bags Here at Queens of Vintage we love to search the planet for the latest in vintage design, and this time we have found up-and-coming Brazilian vintage bag label ‘Crazy Cat’. Queens of Vintage met designers Jo Santos and Renata Nascimento in São Paulo to chat about their inspiration, their love for all things 60s and São Paulo’s best thrift shops. QoV: Tell us about your label Crazy Cat. Jo & Renata: Jo and I have been friends for ages, we actually met in high school. Years later, as a final project at fashion college, we had to set up an imaginary label, and at the time our nickname for each other was crazy cat. We both love vintage and knew straight away we wanted to use only vintage fabrics. We’re completely bag mad so designing bags is a labour of love. QoV: So you only use vintage fabrics? How does your design process work? Jo & Renata: We search local vintage and second-hand shops for different fabrics. We use anything from curtains to sofa covers, cushions and blankets and rework the fabric using our own bag designs. Then we take the design and fabric to a seamstress who finishes the bags for us. It’s all hand made and each piece is unique. One Response Vintage Bags March 1st, 2010 I always love to collect bags as well as those who are unique and has high quality of design and fabrics. Most of the time I use to collect those bags that are vintage, in which this could be more fashionable and Iimited edition.
