Set over a weekend in the small pastel-painted Rochefort, the film follows twin sisters Delphine and Solange, who teach dance and music to the town’s children. Both dream of leaving for Paris in search of success and romance, but life looks up when an all-singing, all-dancing carnival comes to town, as well as glamorous American composer Andy Miller, and Maxence, an artist and sailor who has painted the image of his ideal woman but hasn’t yet found her.

Opens at BFI Southbank 14 August 2009
