First Ladies of Fashion

When Michelle Obama became America’s latest First Lady she joined a long list of women who have been at the centre of the world’s attention – not so much because of their political stance or their charitable activities but because of their style. Lena Weber has selected America’s finest first ladies of fashion.

Grace Coolidge ( 1923 – 29) was the fashion icon of her time. She wholeheartedly embraced 1920s style from flapper dresses and sailor suits to drop-waist lace dresses. For social engagements in the evening Grace dressed like a silent movie star in opulent gowns which she accessorized with feathers and pearls.
