Vintage board games have been around for more than a century and existed well before home entertainment tech such as the TV and smartphones came into the picture. Families used to spend hours playing games together and it was considered an important part of family life, to create bonding and special time together with a bit of competition thrown in.

Monopoly first launched in 1903 in America and was a game that demonstrated economic theories. It is a classic vintage game where the basic rules and concept have not changed through the years, only the appearance of the board and accessories, making for a brighter, more colourful game. Between 1940 and 1960 it was regularly voted as America’s top game. Over 275 million games have been sold worldwide, in 43 different languages spread over 111 countries. Many different versions of the game have been released such as Disney, Game of Thrones and Lord of The Rings and of course versions based on individual cities and countries.

The murder mystery game Cluedo was first manufactured by Waddingtons in 1949 and since then has changed with contemporary board designs, more modern cards and pieces for players. Cluedo was first designed to have 11 rooms, 10 characters and 9 murder weapons and now has 9 rooms, 6 characters and 6 weapons. Although a few aspects of the game have changed over the years, it seems to be timeless and still just as popular as it was when it first launched.
