Editor’s pick of the week: Sixties Jean Patou dress Every week Queens editor Lena Weber highlights one amazing vintage item that has caught her eye. This weeks she has chosen a Sixties cream and blue shift dress by French designer Jean Patou. What: A rare coat-style dress with a large collar and a blue tie & cuffs Designer:Jean Patou. Patou was one of the first couturiers along Chanel and Schiaparelli. Famous for his casual clothes he contributed heavily to the fashion revolution of the Twenties. After his death in 1936 his couture house continued until the late Eighties. Today it is still an haute perfumerie. How much: Buy it from Atelier Mayer for £300 Why: Lena says “This dress is a fine example of Sixties tailoring. The shift cut, tie and button panel recall Twenties style elements and hark back to Patou’s original sporty designs. In near mint condition this is a must-buy for any serious collector or anyone in love with mid-Sixties design.” Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Notify me of follow-up comments by email.
