Book review: Style Me Vintage Accessories The latest addition to the popular book series, Style Me Vintage Accessories (Naomi Thompson and Liz Tregenza, Pavilion, out 25 September) highlights an often forgotten side to vintage styling: accessories from hats, gloves and bags to shoes, jewellery and more. Vintage accessories are all too often reduced to boring cliches, be it Fifties poodle scarves or Seventies headbands. Thankfully, vintage accessory fiends Liz and Naomi set the record straight with their well researched and beautifully photographed introduction to vintage collectables. Their knowledgeable guide covers everything from hat styles, different types of gloves, shoes, jewellery, handbags, eyewear and more. Each type of accessory is detailed chronologically from the Twenties to the Eighties and the book includes genuinely useful tips on etiquette, labels to watch out for and care guidelines such as how to clean gloves as well as top tips for where to shop. Best of all, there’s not a single silly vintage stereotype in sight, authenticity does matter here. Whether you’re completely new to vintage or if you fancy exploring yet unfamiliar brands, this is one interesting and hugely enjoyable book to own!
