Berlin for vintage film enthusiats Vintage film enthusiasts have a number of notable sights to explore in Berlin, after all the city was once the film capital of Europe. Our Berlin correspondent Holly has found the perfect sights for old-school movie lovers. Start your day with a delightfully strong coffee at Berlin’s old world coffee house, Cafe Einstein, on Kurfürstenstrasse there are several Einstein locations in the city but this one is the original! Next, head over to the Berlin Film Museum, which houses an excellent exhibit on German film history. From the silent film era to movies made under the Nazis, exile in Hollywood and lastly, modern German cinema. Linger over still photographs from film classics like Metropolis and Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari. Adjacent to the Film Museum (and to be completed this summer) is the ‘Berlin Walk of Fame’ which will feature Marlene Dietrich’s star. Dietrich is one of 40 actors, directors, composers and scriptwriters who will be honoured on the “Walk”.
