Baroque 1620 – 1800: Style in the Age of Magnificence
For those of us who are fascinated by the powerful and pervasive style of Baroque, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) has been hosting this exquisite exhibition for the past month now, and is a fantastically divine feast for the senses.
Running until July 19, this groundbreaking exhibition is a unique celebration of the all-encompassing, fearless style of Baroque.
Manifesting itself through paintings, sculpture, furniture, interior design, poetry, architecture, and music to name but a few, never before had such an artistic phenomenon swept across the globe. From Italy and France to Africa and Asia, changing forms and incorporating local styles, Baroque was vibrant, emotional, and dramatic, but always poignantly restrained.
