5 highstreet buys for you mid-century kitchen If your kitchen deco is mid-century inspired, take a look at these five highstreet finds for some potential new additions to your home. 1) Habitat Freda range I’m a big fan of the Habitat Freda range with its graphic, nature-inspired design. Whether you are after a storage jar (£10), kitchen trays or patterned tea towels, these colourful and bright designs will add a real retro feel to your kitchen. 2) Marimekko Kompotti plate via John Lewis Finnish design company Marimekko has been around since 1951 and has stayed true to its mid-century motifs and graphic style until today. Their Kompotti plate (from £16)with its stylised fruit and veg design would make the perfect addition to a 50s or 60s inspired kitchen. The same range also included some amazing coasters and an apple shaped chopping board (£32) I’ve had my eyes on for ages. 3) Kenwood Chef Classic Green via Next As a passionate home baker I’ve been wanting a Kenwood Chef for ages. At under £300 these are less expensive than a kitchen aid but still not a cheap investment. Much to my delight there is now a suitably retro version available, I particularly like this avocado green one. It’s a solid piece of machinery build to last with plenty of accessories to tailor to your baking needs. 4) Riess Enamel Milkpan via Heals I really like to drink home-made cappuccino so a good milkpan has been on my wish list for ages. This range of enamel pans from Riess (from £22) come in a variety of retro colours including blue, green and pink. 5) Orla Kiely poppy meadow jar via John Lewis Orla Kiely has to be the queen of retro print design. I keep coffee and teas in her retro kitchen jars such as this poppy design one (£23) but her kitchen range incluedes anything from cake tins to komposter pots.
